Azimio la Umoja One Kenya’s Presidential Flag Bearer Raila Odinga has named Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua as his running mate.
On Monday at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, Mr Odinga praised the former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs her zeal and human rights record.
“I needed a real Joshua on my corner, one who will not be a defector the holder of this position must be a woman,” Mr Odinga said before the May 16 deadline. May for Presidential candidates to submit the names to the Electoral Commission.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Karua said she would like to represent Mr. Odinga and congratulate her other hopeful running mates.

“We’re getting more in the area of social economic rights. Together we can finally bring the postponed dreams to life,” she said.
Ms. Kar et al. She entered politics in 1992 and was elected MP for the Gichugu constituency and became the Legal Secretary of the Democratic Party in 1993.< /p>
Previously she was Minister for Water Resources Management and Development in the administration of the late President Mwai Kibaki between 2003 and 2008. She was appointed Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs, where she served until April 6, 2009 , when she left government.
Kalonzo latches
M Karua’s election is divided Azimio, which saw Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Kenya party, storm out.
< p>In a separate press conference, Mr. Musyoka wished Ms. Karua well.”I wish Raila’s comrade-in-arms Martha Karua well. We have agreed to go our separate ways. I told Raila that the decision to side with Karua decide, will encounter a lot of resistance. OKA will be alone and very soon Wiper will be putting out his own manifesto,” he said.
Ruto chose Gachagua
Vice President William Ruto, the other frontrunner in the race to succeed s President Uhuru Kenyatta, who picked first-time Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance ticket.
While introducing Mr Gachagua as his running mate, the DP described him as an astute debater, a principled, resilient and fearless fighter for the right cause. “Gachagua is my friend who I’ve worked with, specifically on this bottom-up economic model, and we started this journey together. He understands people’s problems; he’s passionate about ordinary people,” said Dr. Ruto.
Mr. Gachagua served as a district officer in Molo and Laikipia during the Kanu rule, when the provincial administrators exercised much power and their orders were law. He says he has equipped himself with enough experience and can run a government without pressure and pressure, citing his role as personal assistant to Mr Kenyatta and Philip Mbithi, former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi’s chief of public services /p>
Central Region
The two candidates for Vice-President both hail from the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region, which has one of the highest numbers of registered voters in the country.
Elections will be held on August 9.
