Drivers on mainland Tanzania pay less for petroleum products as fuel prices have fallen slightly compared to last month.
According to the Regulatory Authority for Energy and Water Supply (Ewura), retail prices for gasoline and diesel, imported via the port of Dar es Salaam fell by 0.35 percent and 2.80 percent, while kerosene increased by 4.44 percent.
Acting general director of Ewura, Godfrey Chibulunje, said that retail gasoline prices in Dar will be $ 1.08 per liter and diesel will be $ 1.00 per liter. Kerosene prices will rise to USD 1.00 per liter.
Mr. Chibulunje said the decrease was the result of the government’s decision to lower various taxes on fuel in order to lower the cost of living for Tanzanians.
He added that some of the costs that contributed to the drop in fuel prices include onboard costs, wholesale and retail import cost premiums, levies and fees from various government agencies, taxes and transportation costs.

According to Mr. Chibulunje, retail gasoline prices in Tanga will be US $ 1.09 per liter and US $ 1.024 per liter of diesel, and kerosene is $ 1.029 per liter. On Kilimanjaro, gasoline costs $ 1.11 per liter, diesel $ 1.04 per liter and kerosene $ 1.04 per liter.
