The Sudanese government has warned of an impending shortage of essential medicines and strategic goods, including food, after protesters blocked main routes for imports.
In recent weeks, protesters in Eastern Sudan have blocked the transport of supplies from the main port on the Red Sea coast in the city of Port Sudan to pressure Khartoum to implement a range of political demands.
They are demonstrating against what they see as deteriorating political and economic conditions in the country Region.
A statement by the Sudanese cabinet on Sunday said preventing the transport of essential medicines and goods was a “crime” against millions of citizens.
