Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema meets his hosting counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta in Nairobi as he embarks on his first official trip to Kenya since taking power in August last year.
And according to the Zambian leader the meeting is part of his ongoing search for economic opportunities for his people.
“We have safely arrived in Nairobi, Kenya. Your Chief Marketing Officer is here to discuss trade and investment opportunities between our two countries and Putting Zambia on the world map as an ambitious country whose focus is on people’s economic development,” he tweeted after arriving in Nairobi.
President Hichilema landed just after midday and was greeted by Kenya’s Interior Minister Fred Matiang ‘i is greeted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport before departing for the State House for bilateral meetings with his host Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Zambian head of state is greeted by meh accompanied by senior government officials, including Zambia’s Trade Minister and IndustryChipoka Mulenga, and is expected to discuss business with his hosts.

Mr. Hichilema will visit the innovation incubation laboratory for techies, I-Hub in Nairobi and the Maramba tea factory in Limuru on Thursday, according to House Speaker Kanze Dena Mararo.

In his sixth presidential bid, Hichilema defeated incumbent Edgar Lungu, 64, by nearly a million votes – a landslide , spurred on by economic hardship and restricted freedoms from the previous regime.
