Ethiopia cautions countries “pursuing own foreign policy in the name of aid” to refrain

– In her routine press release to the state media, Selamwit Kassa, Minister of State for the Government’s Communications Service, said this morning that the government has warned some countries that are pursuing their own foreign policies in the name of development aid not to do so by the EBC reported.

The Minister of State went on to say that Ethiopians living abroad and friends of Ethiopia worldwide have rallied against foreign interventions in the country.

Selamawit also called on the Ethiopians living abroad and the Ethiopians of Ethiopian descent to send money through legal channels. The diaspora’s previous initiatives to support Ethiopia are commendable, she said.

Regarding agricultural activities, the state minister said that an estimated 1.5 million hectares of land in five zones of the regional state of Amhara were either destroyed or as a result of the persistent security problems in the region not grown. To compensate for the loss, the government is making various efforts to help those areas where security is not a problem to work with special focus, reported the EBC, citing the Minister of State.

According to Selamwit has the government is working to get input from the agricultural sector by covering 13 million hectares of land and harvesting 374.5 million quintals to meet domestic consumption for the 2020/2021 harvest season.
