In midst of counteroffensive measures against TPLF, NaMA criticizes Fed. Gov’t track record, demands swift actions to consolidate victories

– The National Movement of Amhara (NaMA) called on the public to participate in a survival campaign. In the statement, NaMA recalled that the Amhara people, along with the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and other Ethiopian patriots, fought against the Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which the party accused of atrocities against the people of Amhara and Afar regions since July 13, 2021.

NaMA also accused the federal government of giving up its responsibility for controlling the war in Amhara. It stated: “The reluctance and lack of leadership of the federal government to consolidate the victory of the armed forces and the Amhara forces over the enemy into a complete victory has done great damage and created a feeling of betrayal in our people.” br />

The statement has argued that this war is against the Amhara people and differs from the narratives of the federal and regional governments who argue that this war is for the survival of Ethiopia.

“You have witnessed the invasion up close. Also, remember that the war is yours first and foremost. So far you have been waiting for help and saying that the matter is national, ”the statement reads, calling on the people of the Amhara region to stand up and defend themselves.

The NaMA, chaired by the Federal Minister for Technology and Innovation, criticized the Federal Government’s track record and called on it to live up to its responsibility for the country.

The declaration is made against the background a new offensive by the ENDF and allied forces to push the TPLF out of the territories mainly in the Amhara and Afar regions.

It also comes amid reports of new atrocities in Amhara and Afar region and air strikes on Tigray’s capital, Mekele, which remains under the control of Tigrayan troops loyal to the TPLF.
