– In a joint statement by the Attorney General’s Office and the Oromia Regional State Communications Office, officials announced the lifting of the curfew on people and vehicles, announced on Friday, November 12th.
Loudly Oromia Attorney General Adunye Ahmed has the curfew lifted because the region is an economic hub.
However, the Attorney General said other measures, including searches, remain in place and the curfew may apply to people and vehicles based on a security assessment and its necessity.
The curfew imposed on Friday will restrict the movement of vehicles and people between 9:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. local time. Ambulances and private vehicles were exempt with permits. The curfew also restricted employees of hotels, commercial enterprises, hospitals and religious institutions from getting permits for their vehicles. Bars and nightclubs also had to close at 9:00 p.m.
