Court frees businessman Jimi Wanjigi

Mr Wanjigi, who has been accused of fraudulently acquiring the land on which his Kwacha home in the Westlands is built, has been released without charge against him after a High Court order prevented his prosecution for the alleged crime .

The prime property, measuring 0.3 hectares, was the subject of investigations by the DCI’s Land Fraud Unit, which recommended Wanjigi, his wife Irene Nzisa and six others to prosecute individuals for fraud.

The six include; Kaneez Noorani, Mohamed Hussein Noorani, Mohamed Hussanali, Kairu Augustine Thuo, John Nyanjua Njenga and Himanshu Velji Dodhia aka Himanshu Velji Premchard Dodhia.

The eight face eight counts of forgery of document plans contrary to § 350 para. 1, 2 StGB.

According to the indictment, the eight conspired to falsify the land register document number LR1870/11/200 with a size of 0.3 hectares under the Names Dodhia Foam Limited claiming to be a real and valid deed plan issued and signed by Surveyor GS Gitau and Land Commissioner Wilson Gachanja.
