Mr. Cheruiyot becomes the second key ally of DP Ruto, who is being investigated for incitement after the arrest of Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
Senator Linturi was named for his ‘ madoa’ Reference arrested at DP Ruto’s rally at the Eldoret Sports Club.
The DPP would like Mr Cheruiyot to investigate what appeared to be a racist profile of Kesse MP Swarup Mishra.
“How do you choose an Asian who will go ahead to show contempt for our leader? I want to tell you to decline it. I hear he is handing out motorbikes and other things; I want to tell you to take her with you, but deselect him so he can fly back to Punjab. We want all leaders to be elected on a UDA ticket, ”said the senator during the rally in which the DP took part.
Mr Mishra, who was elected on an anniversary ticket, has since opted quarreled with DP Ruto. The legislature’s key allies have urged voters to vote against him in the August 9 elections.
Last November, Mr. Mishra was elected during a rally in his constituency where Dr. Ruto took part, harassed by the residents.
“The alleged statements captured in a video clip relate to the racial identity of an elected leader, whose statements could provoke feelings of hatred, hostility, violence, contempt and discrimination and against Article 33 could violate 92) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and Sections 13 and 62 (1) of the National Cohesion and Integration Act, No. 12 of 2018, ”states the DPP on January 11th.
Mr Haji wants an investigation report to be ready in seven days.
“You are hereby instructed to conduct a full investigation under Article 157 (4) of the Kenya Constitution of 2010 to determine if one or more Crimes were committed. Committed by said Senator and the resulting investigation file eaten within seven (7) days of submitting it, “says Mr. Haji in his letter.
Mr. Linturi, who was arrested after his arrest on Sun ntag was detained for two days and was released on Tuesday against a 5 million short loan with a bond of a similar amount or an alternative cash deposit of Sh2 million in his incitement process.
Nakuru Chief Magistrate Edna Nyaloti ruled advises the Senator to report to the DCI offices every Friday. The court also banned Mr. Linturi from commenting on the matter.
Similarly, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka and Lamu politician Abubakar Amana are in trouble for incitement.
Mr Onyonka was arrested Tuesday morning while Mr Haji wants Mr Aman to be examined on December 19 last year for alleged ethnic statements.
