Dr. Matiang’i said DP Ruto’s allies had a habit of attacking him and his chief secretary Karanja Kibicho, which he called unacceptable.
CS urged politicians to commit to their manifesto focus and make it the subject of their political meetings and discussions rather than attacking officials who are just doing their job.
“You have made it your business to attack Matiang’i and Kibicho every time you reach the microphone. Is Matiang’i and Kibicho your manifesto? Can you not say what you would like to do for the Kenyans? Can’t you talk about your manifesto? When did Matiang’i and Kibicho become your manifesto?” said Dr. Matiang’i.
He urged leaders to stop profiling and attacking officials.
“Where there are challenges, we will focus and find solutions. But we cannot continue attacking government officials and profiling them in terms of their communities. We have no tribe, our job is to serve all Kenyans equally,” said the Home Secretary, speaking at the Borabu Constituency funeral of Mzee Wesley Atuya Ogari.
He was appointed by Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo accompanied. Mrs. Representative Jerusha Momanyi, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and several MCAs.
Nyanza Regional Commissioner Magu Mutindika and Nyamira District Commissioner Michael Lesmam were also present.
“Let’s respect state officials. Stop attacking them and to drag them onto your political platforms. What I saw about our county commissioner from Uasin Gishu last weekend is disheartening,” said Dr. Matiang’i.
He stated this during a political rally held in Uasin Gishu last weekend in which the vice president and his allies attended, they claimed that the district commissioner was holding political meetings.
“Our local District Commissioner, Mr. Kihara, is one of our experienced civil servants and has climbed the ranks from District Officer to District Commissioner to County Commissioner,” said the CS.
He noted that Uasin Gishu is not Mr. Stephen Kihara’s first stop, adding that he worked elsewhere before being posted to the North Rift District more than a year ago.
“Dem Ministry of Interior has not received a single report of wrongdoing or wrongdoing on the part of Uasin Gishu’s commissioner,” said Dr. Matiang’i.
“You saw him being abused and attacked by political leaders. Kenya is better than that! Some of these things that we see lower the standard of leadership. We have never seen leaders as proud and abusive as them,” the CS said. The CS previously said the government had deployed more officials to hotspots of insecurity.
In a speech at the Borabu Technical Training Institute, Dr. Matiang’i, after meeting national government officials from Nyamira County, North Rift, North Eastern and the Coast, was notorious for his insecurity.
“We have reactivated peace committees in these regions, reporting to the Ministry of the Interior, to help us build peace and unity,” said the CS of the Interior.
