Police are searching for a woman accused of stealing money and valuables from the home of Treasury Department Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Nelson Ributhi Gaichuihe.
A police report obtained at Hardy Police Station in Lang’ata , Nairobi, states the suspect identified as Ms Miriam Mwelu Muinde, 45, was kidnapped with Sh4 million and Sh500,000 worth of jewellery.
The matter was reported to the police by Mrs. Charity Waithira Mungai, Ributhi’s wife.
The robbery is believed to have taken place at her home on Lamwia Road in Karen.
“She left around 7am went to work in the morning with her children, leaving her maid, a woman, at home at the age of 45,” the report says in part.
She returned from work around 3 p.m. and set realized that Ms. Muinde was missing.
Ms. Waithira decided to check the apartment and clean it hsearched the house only to find that they were missing Sh500,000 worth of jewelry and Sh4 million in cash.
“The maid suspected of stealing the items was last arrested by S Das Cell phone signal from afaricom in Rongai, Kajiado County, where it was cut off at 10:00 am.
The crime scene was visited by officers from the Kenya Police Service and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The officers found that there were no signs of a break-in at the scene.
Detectives from Karen Police Station are currently investigating the matter.
This is barely a month after another maid was charged in court for stealing 104 million shillings from her boss.
Mrs Shelith Kiprono is accused of stealing the money from her employer, who is based in Lang’ata, a sub-district, resides. Nairobi County.
The domestic help, also known as Ms. Jerop, was charged in Kibera courts on Monday, May 30.
She was arrested days after the robbery in Eldoret arrested and taken back to the city. Police said they only got 2.5 million shillings from her.
