How girls from Murang’a were lured into Mtwapa porn syndicate

When four girls from a village in Murang’a County received a job offer in Mombasa last week, they were delighted that the income they would earn would free them from the shackles of poverty that had plagued their families.

< p>According to an affidavit submitted in a court in Shanzu, they had been promised sales and marketing jobs in the port city.

Instead, they were broadcast via a live-streaming website on an online Platform recruited for prostitution and exploitation.

The court heard that the girls had been detained in an apartment in the Mtwapa area for illegal dealings.

Detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking Police Unit have now launched a manhunt for a woman believed to be the syndicate’s prime suspect.

The woman who is on the run paid for the victims’ travel expenses.

Preliminary investigations have revealed , that the woman when she received the H The victims were given a desk with a camera and instructed to start streaming their files live.

On Wednesday evening, two suspects linked to human trafficking and the housing the four victims were arrested in court for involvement in the criminal act.

Charles Wambua aka Chalie and Emily Wanjiru Muthee are now being treated as prime suspects behind the human trafficking of the Murang’a victims and house them in Mtwapa.

The suspects faced two counts of human trafficking and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The first charge indicates that the suspects were together conspired with another suspect at large to commit a crime, human trafficking, by taking in or harboring the four victims.

They, however, dismissed the charges before the Shanzu Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo.

< p>Prosecutor Ogega Bosibori told the c that the state will amend the indictment after receiving a report on the forensic analysis being carried out on items seized from the suspects.

“We pray that this case will receive a special hearing. The victims were kept in a safe house. Their families filed a missing persons report before they were found,” the prosecutor said.

The victims are said to have fled the apartment in Mtwapa and made their way to Makupa police station, where they were met by police Police reported how they were selected from Murang’a for sales and marketing jobs but were locked in a house to stream nudes online.

Police searched the house and located seven computers, cameras and other items safe.

A police report obtained by theNation witnessed indicates that one of the girls attempted suicide after fleeing the house in Mtwapa.

“The victim was found in a rented room attempting to feed rats and rat poison swallow, due to the stigma and the T raumas she suffered at the hands of sex traffickers,” police said.

The two suspects were released on bail of Sh500,000 each with a guarantee of s of a similar amount.

The case will be heard on July 1.
