Media Women Association unveils new board

This was the first time in the 38-year history of AMWIK that elections were held virtually.

AMWIK is a national, independent, non-profit membership organization for media women. It envisions a society where the media embraces and promotes gender equality in order to improve the lives of women and children so that they can fully enjoy their human rights.

“We adapt of trends mainly driven by the pandemic. The turnout was excellent and we thank the members for their support in deciding on their future, ”said the Chair of the Election Committee, Jane Gitau to unite and move forward.

Dr. Thuo will lead the six-member board of directors, represented by Rachel Ombaka. Venter Nkatha is the new treasurer of the board, members are Jane Godia, Lilian Anyango and Cylia Kathambi.

Dr. Thuo, who was AMWIK director from 2007 to 2013, is a lecturer at the University of Nairobi. Your deputy, Ms. Ombaka, is an experienced editor, media trainer and speaker.

The new board will be in office from 2021 to 2023.
