Mithika Linturi denies rape and indecent act charges

When the Senator appeared before Senior Chief Justice Martha Nazushi in the Milimani Courts of Nairobi, the Senator denied two charges of attempted rape and indecent conduct.

Prosecutors alleged this on Jan. 30 In 2021, at Mayani Villas Hotel in Nanyuki, the Senator deliberately attempted to sexually abuse the woman around 3 a.m.

He is also accused of having committed an indecent act of deliberately wiping the chest and genitals of the woman without her consent.

The Senator dismissed the charges.

Prosecutor Evelyne Onunga did not object to Linturi’s release, but asked the court to bail him on the condition that he was not allowed to interfere directly or indirectly with witnesses.

Linturi’s defense team, led by attorney Mothomi Thiankolu, asked the court to bring the Sen. Ator on reasonable bail terms.

The judge granted Linturi a bail of 500,000 Shillings or a cash bail of 200,000 Shillings.

The case will be mentioned on October 26th.
