2023 Election: Ex-Delta Speaker, Others Set To Dump APC For PDP

As the political conspiracy intensifies ahead of the 2023 parliamentary elections, some political party members have defected from one party to another.

These politicians always had one reason or another for their apostasy; some for political orientation in preparation for the upcoming elections, others to gain support for their preferred candidate vying for key positions.

Thursday October 14th, However, Punch reported that former Delta State Parliament Speaker Monday Igbuya and former House MP Solomon Edoja have reportedly defected from the ruling party to the People’s Democratic Party.

The report says the duo have perfected all the necessary plans to join the PDP from the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement from the Delta State PDP, Chairman Kingsley Esiso said preparations for the party’s mega-rally are in full swing.

Esiso’s statement, signed by State Public Relations Secretary Latimore Oghenesivbe, the said The rally would be held at Sapele Township Stadium on October 23rd.

According to Esiso, the said rally will be a welcome event for all former party decampees who returned with the team’s supporters .

In the statement, he noted that the state governor Ifeanyi Okowa would be present to add the Decampees to the PDP group.

He also said that the central chairman of Delta, Chief Fovie, and all members of the zone had plans for the mega-rally.

The Statement:

“The mega-rally is obviously one of the series of programs that the political supremacy of the PDP as the only party that has a deeply rooted political relationship with the good people of the state of Delta before the parliamentary elections in 2023.”

These concerns were raised when the PDP pushed for alignment according to s stronger political members ahead of the party congress.

The governor said at the adjournment of the meeting that the adjournment would give the northern party’s leaders time to come before deciding on a candidate for to nominate and advise the chairmanship of the PDP.
