NAN recalls, that the minister had previously said that a 60-man team from Russia would arrive in Nigeria to begin technical testing of Ajaokuta steel.
The agreement to revitalize the steel company was reached during a 2019 Meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and President Vladimir Putin in Russia.
The Russian government had nominated TPE, the original builder of Ajaokuta Steel Company, to conduct a technical audit of the steel company to determine the extent of the remaining en to identify work on the steel company.
However, the minister said that the main purpose of the steel company was when it was designed and built to produce molten steel, adding that the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO) was founded in Itakpe in Kogi to supply it with iron ore.
He explained that liquid steel could be used in the construction of aircraft and automobile engine parts, among other things.
“The Ajaokuta Steel Company has not been able to produce molten steel since it was manufactured – the little hurdles we have to overcome.
