Kaduna – President Muhammadu’s Buhari-led federal government should call bandits in the northwest region as terrorists or insurgents.
The Punch reports that Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state appealed after reading the security report of the third quarter of the commissioner for internal security and home affairs e Samuel Aruwan.
El-Rufai speaks on Wednesday October 20th, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, mainta in the statement that the statement is Nigerian Military would allow bandits to attack and kill without major consequences, added Vanguard.
He was quoted as saying:
“We in the government of the state of Kaduna had always urged bandits to be declared insurgents and terrorists. We have been writing letters to the federal government since 2017 asking for this declaration because it is this declaration that enables the Nigerian military to attack and kill these bandits without major consequences under international law. “
He suggested that the federal government step up the fight against insurgents and banditry by recruiting 1,000 young people from each of the 774 local governments into security agencies to increase security personnel.
The governor pointed out that bandits should not be kept alive and said they deserve no mercy.
El-Rufai’s statement supports similar demands by the Kebbi state governor , National Assembly to Declare Bandits Terrorists.
Represent Senate, asks Buhari to declare bandits terrorists

NANS urges Buhari to declare bandits to be terrorists
Similarly, the National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS) President Buhari called on bandits to kidnap students in the north of the country as terrorists.
NANS National President Sunday Asefon called on behalf of the association on Sunday, August 8th , in Ado -Ekiti. on, Ekiti State.
Asefon said anyone who tends to kidnap and kill large numbers of students should be classified as a terrorist.
