The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has a word of warning for the governors of the Southeast to take urgent steps to “stop the killing of innocent Northerners or face the legal consequences of their inaction.” A statement signed by its national president, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, said the murder of northerners working or trading in the southeast at the slightest opportunity was a total sum of an unacceptable act of undue provocation.
Arewa Group calls Soludo a disappointment
The group said it expects Anambra Governor Soludo to use his revelations in governance and management to address the killings, but he seemed to have been a disappointment.
The group said:
“The fact that the governors of the Southeast are the chief security officers of their states, but doing nothing to stop the unprovoked killing of northerners implies an ethnic cleansing agenda and we condemn it in whatever form – IPOB attack or ESN.”
The group said:
“The silence of these governors, despite the brutal attacks on our sons and daughters in the Southeast, must end now and we wish to issue our warning that no Nigerian has a monopoly on the use of force and that Northerners’ respect for the rule of law should never be seen as a weakness.”
Unidentified gunmen behead lawmaker representing Soludos LGA
In another related incident, an unidentified gunman killed an Okechukwu Okoye, the MP for Governor Sol udo represents in the Anambra House of Assembly.
Okoye, representing the Aguata 2 constituency in the state, along with his aide Cyril Chieboka, was on Sunday May 15 along the Aguluzigbo Road in Anaocha Municipal Government Region abducted state.
His head is said to have been in a parking lot in Amichi, a municipality in the governorate, for six days on Saturday, May 21 Nnewi South of the state, may have been dumped after he was kidnapped.
IPOB: Delta state government alerts security agencies
Meanwhile, the government Delta State has placed all state security agencies on alert following the recent activities of unidentified gunmen.
