BREAKING: Former APC Governor Arrested over Accountant-General’s N80 Billion Probe –

FCT, Abuja – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) has arrested a former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari.

Yari’s arrest was in connection with the ongoing anti-graft agency investigation the suspended Comptroller General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, according to Premium Times.

AGF Ahmed Idris and the alleged N80 billion in fraud

Recall that AGF is under Criminal Investigation Department, Idr, has been in EFCC custody since May 16th and is standing Investigators allegedly conspired with others to steal public funds he was assigned to protect as Auditor General over N80 billion corruption charges.

Premium Times cited EFCC sources as confirming that Yari, who is said to be one of his alleged accomplices, was arrested.

According to the sources, suspicious transactions were between Idris and Yari ” in the order of 20 billion naira”.

Yari and the EFCC investigation

Ex-Governor Yari was repeatedly accused by the EFCC in 2021 held and interrogated on charges he had prosecuted diverted billions of Zamfara’s funds held in a bank.

He was Governor of Zamfara State between 2007 and 2019.

Heavy shooting as EFCC agents broke into Okorochas ho me arrest him

In another related development, EFCC agents arrested Senator Rochas Okorocha and, after nearly an hour of sporadic gunfire, took him away.

They broke into his residence in Maitama, Abuja after besieging it for nine hours.

The agents broke into Okorocha’s living room after he dispersed his followers, who were singing solidarity songs to protest against the protest siege.
