Oyo City – Gunmen attacked the correctional facility in Abolongo, Oyo, Oyo state.
In the attack, which took place on Friday evening, October 22nd, some prisoners were released after the attackers allegedly overpowered prison officials and security guards at the facility.
The attack messed up the facility and the guards escaped to safety. It was not clear that at the time the report was filed, the mission was to release prisoners or otherwise.
Other security agencies were found to be mobilizing their personnel in support have men and women of duty to track down the armed men and arrest freed prisoners again.
When the security forces arrived, some prisoners who tried to escape were immediately arrested again .
The PR officer of the command, Olanrewaju Anjorin, confirmed the attack on Saturday, October 23rd.
Anjorin told The Nation on the phone that high-ranking commando officers were out to assess the amount of damage.
“Yes . It has been confirmed that the attack actually took place. And right now, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) auditor and other top officials are assessing the situation. But I can confirm to you that the incident actually happened. ”
Armed men attack Nigerian prison, free 240 inmates, allegedly kill soldiers
This happened afterwards An armed gang attacked the prison on the night of Sunday September 12th and killed the military, as confirmed by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) spokesman Francis Enobore.
The attackers involved the security officers in a very violent firefight.
