- The suspect who was on the run was caught in Abuja in the early hours of Monday, agency spokesman Femi Babafemi confirmed in a statement.
- Meanwhile, the Kuje Prison attacked by dozens of insurgents last week, and the ISWAP group claimed responsibility for the attack by releasing a video of their men in action
One of the terrorists who escaped from Kuje prison during last week’s invasion was caught in a car park in the country’s capital, reports Daily Trust.
ISWAP claims responsibility for the latest attack week
The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) had e claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) had released the names and pictures of the suspects.
NDLEA confirmed Idi’s arrest< /h2>
But on Monday, sharp-eyed agents from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) caught escaping inmate , Suleiman Idi, at the Area 1 Autopark in the Federal Capital Territory.
When he was arrested, he tried to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri in Borno state Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesman.
Babafemi said in a statement :
“During the preliminary interview, the wanted terror suspect confirmed that he was remanded in the Kuje Correctional Facility on terrorism and robbery charges and added that he was in fact one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday.” .”
Hard drugs at Idi found
Three packages of hard drugs were reportedly found on Idi.
The previous arrest
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDL EA, Brig. Gen. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended his men for the arrest and directed that the wanted suspect should be turned over to NCoS immediately.
This is the second suspect to be recaptured after NCoS revealed the identities of fleeing inmates.

Nasarawa State Police Command arrested Hassan Hassan, whose name and picture were among inmates with Boko Haram/terrorism cases, who escaped from Kuje Prison after the attack on the Abuja Correctional Facility.
Hassan has been arrested in Keffi governorate, according to The Punch report.
Kuje prison break: President Buhari responds
Meanwhile , President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his disappointment with the intelligence system after the terrorists attacked the Medium Security Custodial Center, Kuje.
After the President on Wednesday July 6th , who inspected the scene of the attack, criticized Kuje Prison’s intelligence system.
“I’m disappointed in the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have guns, attack a security facility and get away with it,” he said.
