This was announced in a statement by Army Spokesman Onyema Nwachukwu on Tuesday, May 3 via the Nigerian Army’s official Facebook page.
According to the statement, the Nigerian described the murder as cruel, barbaric and despicable.
The statement read:
“The is vile act, one too many, clearly hints at the deep-seated hatred, desperation and lawlessness with which IPOB/ESN foot soldiers unleashed terror on Ndigbo, who they are said to be on a mission of protection and emancipation, as well as other innocent Nigerians living or passing through the South East.
“This gruesome murder, in which they did not even spare their own child, clearly shows callousness and impenitence and is undeniably a brazen act of terrorism which by IPOB be /ESN An army has announced that it will launch a serious investigation to uncover the perpetrators of the killings.
The army also sent its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased .
It also called on the general public to assist in the investigative process by providing useful information to help apprehend the culprits
