one One person is feared dead after a Toyota Sienna vehicle carrying members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State from Abuja to Port Harcourt somersaulted.
One of the occupants of the vehicle, Innocent Amadi, stated this in a conversation with a well-known R radio station known in Port Harcourt, The Punch reports.
Amadi said the crash occurred around 8:00 am Thursday, June 9, near staff quarters from the University of Abuja.
The survivor recounts his ordeal
The survivor said the driver of the vehicle was speeding when he suddenly applied the brakes , while another vehicle drove ahead.
He further announced that five of the seven occupants of the car were injured and are currently being treated at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital.
“Our vehicle was going too fast. So there was another vehicle in front of us. Because the driver was going too fast, he lost control, hit the brake and the wheel spun.
“The engine overturned. I was in front of the vehicle. I came out unharmed. I put on my seat belt. Although we lost one person. Five people were injured.”
Identity of dead yet revealed
The identity of the dead victim has yet to be revealed, but it was gathered that the Party members participated in the just-concluded APC presidential primaries in the federal capital territory of Abuja.
