COVID-19: Nigeria records additional 387 infections

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 387 additional COVID-19 infections in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The center posted the number on its Facebook on Tuesday – Page released tomorrow.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that the 387 cases represent an increase from the 365 cases reported on Sunday.

The health authority noted that with 21 COVID-19 – the death toll has risen to 2,619 registered deaths.

The NCDC said the Delta variant was the dormant variant in circulation in Nigeria and indicated that it is much more contagious than other COVID-19 variants.

The center urged people who were still vaccinated and urged all Nigerians to wear a face mask.

“Everyone a mask should be worn in areas with significantly high transmission. even if vaccinated, “it advised.

The NCDC said the number of active coronavirus infections rose again to 10,135, an increase from 8,492 reported on Monday.

However, the center did not state whether the majority of known active cases were the Delta variant.

According to the NCDC, Lagos recorded 114 of the 387 infections, Rivers 91, FCT 32, Edo 31 and Delta 28 .

Kwara had 20, Bayelsa 18, Akwa Ibom 15, Oyo 10, Osun 8, Gombe 5, Plateau 5, Ekiti 4, Ogun 3, Kano 2 and Kaduna 1.

According to the NCDC, Nigeria successfully treated 188,427 COVID-19 patients on September 13th.

However, it noted that Nigeria’s COVID-19 patients rose 19 cases on Monday to 199,538.
