Ogadigbo – The Benue South All Progressive Congress (APC) senator candidate, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, has the Nigerian government and the Security agencies tasked to quickly address rising tensions in the Senate district over pastoral activities.
Recall that some areas in the Senate district were recently attacked after suspected pastoral St. Mary’s had attacked the Catholic Church in Owukpa and kidnapped the cook of a Pr iesters.
A few days later, a businessman, Mr. Agbara, was reportedly attacked by the same armed shepherds.
This was followed the attempted kidnapping of a certain Mr. Raphael Okpe, a native of Orokam, Ogbadibo County, Benue State.
Onjeh has thus suggested that three institutions play a crucial role in facilitating and maintaining a lasting peace in the affected communities of Benue South.
According to him, the Fulani community in the area, the security authorities and the judiciary must work together to bring lasting peace to Orokam and others neighboring communities.
Onjeh, while lamenting recent attacks by militia herders on his community, Onjeh said the responsibility rests with the Fulanis in the area to prove they are not for the constantly e kidnapping were responsible for the ransom and murders.
According to the APC senator candidate, Fulanis and his people had always lived happily together and expressed shock at the turn of events.
“But the stories we’ve been hearing lately of the Fulani unleashing terror on the communities of Benue South are heartbreaking.
“They kidnap their victims indiscriminately, regardless of their financial situation, and demand incredible sums of money for ransom. And if the victims’ families don’t deliver the demanded ransom in time, they continue to slaughter them like mere animals.
“The Benue South community still suffers the pain of the brutal murder of the Honorable Paul Ojile and Agbo Onogwu by Fulani armed militias.”
