Deborah Samuel: Ex-IGP’s Son Defends Killing of Blasphemers, Nigerians React –

  • The son of a former Inspector General of Police has responded to the killing of Miss Deborah Samuel Yakubu by her schoolmates in Sokoto State
  • According to Captain Jamil Abubakar according to him, the penalty for blasphemy in most religions, including Christianity, is death.

Captain Jamil Abubakar, the son of former Police Inspector General Mohammed Abubakar, has claimed the killing of Defended by blasphemers, reports The Punch.

Jamil, a veteran pilot and president of the JMD Foundation, a non-profit organization, said so in a tweet on Friday night, May 13.


Deborah, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Soko to, was killed by Muslim students at the school and their remains burned on Thursday May 12 for alleged blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad.

Jamil, the son-in-law of Afrikas wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, said this amid outrage sparked by the assassination of Deborah Samuel, a student in Sokoto State, who was murdered by her peers for allegedly blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad.

Jamil’s position on the matter

The pilot argued that all religions frown on blasphemy and warn people to respect the beliefs of others.

He tweeted:

“In Islam we respect the Injil, Taura, Zabur, We were never taught to read anything from the Book or any of the Prophets from Adam to Muhammad SAW and the Quran disobey.

“The punishment for Blasph emie is death! in most religions including Christianity. Respect people’s religion. It’s easy!”

Samuel, a sophomore at the college, was killed Thursday after she was accused of blaspheming Muhammad (SAW), the prophet of Islam Abuja, the vice president, praised the Sultan of Sokoto, the state governor and other heads of state for condemning the despicable act and insisting that the perpetrators be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, the GBV movement for the state of emergency has called for the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the murder of Deborah Samuel .

According to the movement, the brutal murder of a 200-year-old home economics student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto by students who accused her of blasphemy is appalling.
