On Thursday May 12, some angry students The Shehu Shagari College of Education bullied, killed and burned a colleague, Deborah Samuel, for allegedly blaspheming the Prophet Mohammed.

While many Nigerians have condemned the act, which has been described as barbaric , others have accused the late young girl of making “ungodly” remarks about the Prophet.

However, the Sultan acted quickly from Sokoto condemned Sa’ad Abubakar III in harsh terms the attack, killing and burning of Samuel.

< p class="align-left">In a statement released by Sokoto Sultanate Council Sa’idu Maccido, the secretary of the Council said it was with dismay that the palace learned of the unfortunate incident that was taking place in the institution occurred.

Maccido said the Sultanate Council condemned the incident in its entirety and called on the security authorities to bring the perpetrators of the unjustified incident to justice.

< p class="align-left">The statement added that the Sultanate Council urges Sokoto residents to remain calm and peaceful coexistence between the people of the state and the nation.

The killing and burning of a 200-level student at Shehu Shagari College of Education has continued to draw responses from multiple authorities .

A recent response from the senior Nigerian police in Sokoto states that two suspects in the criminal act have been arrested.

This was also shared by the state’s police force with students at the facility, security forces overpowered the room she was being held in for her safety before killing and burning her.

Mob burned student alive in Sokoto, giving cause

A student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto was beaten and burned to death for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad (saas).

Governor Aminu Tambuwal, in response to the unfortunate incident, ordered the school closed and directed the Ministry of Education and security agencies to investigate the matter.
