Delegate Inducement: Don’t Be Like PDP, Group Sends Important Message to APC –

  • The ruling All Progressives Congress has been asked not to follow the line of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party during its presidential election
  • According to the group, inciting delegates by the PDP during the primaries just concluded was shameful.
  • The Legacy Transformation Initiative, a hub for policy formulation and analysis, called Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory

Legacy Transformation Initiative, a center for policy formulation and analysis, has lamented the incitement of delegates by Nigerian politicians, as seen in the just-concluded primary elections of the opposition People’s Democratic Party.

The bipartisan group, which made the announcement in a statement signed by Ibe Aniemeke Lawson, their national coordinator, thanked Nigerian youth for the non-violent atmosphere during the primary elections.

It is also called d on the decision of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) not to follow the path of the PDP. She said it was tarnishing the reputation of her delegates’ party in monetary terms, as was the case with the opposition party.

To go further, the faction warned Nigerian leaders about the non-involvement of youth in the electoral process, despite the enacted law supporting it.

The group called on politicians to adopt and initiate pragmatic frameworks and activities that encourage and encourage Incentivize youth into politics.

Part of the statement read:

“One of those ways is to consciously and necessarily redesign our executive recruitment process Immediate attention is paid to the need to demonstrate the methods of selecting or nominating delegates through the adoption of strict guidelines reflecting strength of character, experience and leadership emphasizing the candidates’ qualities to influence the delegate’s choice in choosing the party’s flag-bearers. Only when this is entrenched as a party culture can the youth and credible people aspire to and eventually emerge to represent the mass of us.

“This is particularly worrying as several reports have been circulating the open market charade and bidding process that allegedly characterized the opposition PDP Presidential Congress. This was reinforced by the statement and capture by one of the PDP presidential candidates, Dr. Hayatu deen (an experienced banker) – who had to resign due to the excessive monetization of the process.

“Third, accordingly, we have dictated to the ruling party that ‘it is about time’. (APC) will be offered a unique opportunity June 6-7, 2022 to soothe the traumatized Nigerians – especially our teeming youth who have seen the shame committed by the PDP in righting the wrongs. The APC can carve out among Nigerians through this narrow window offered by their Presidential Congress by holding the first Congress without financial incentives and characterizing an eventual winner as the winning bidder in the process.

“To avoid that to tarnish its hard-earned reputation and capitalize on the prevailing mood resulting from the recent PDP Presidential Congress that left a traumatized/disillusioned citizenry behind.

“The APC has a choice to deviate from this inglorious path and to show shame by adopting or voting for a candidate whose personality and public records are directly at odds with the PDP’s election and the alleged monetized process they used to arrive at their election.

< blockquote>“Therefore, we appeal to this on behalf of other numerous patriots to adopt or elect Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (GCON) – whom we characterized through our earlier press release from our studies as the most suitable and able of the rest of the qualified candidates for the APC primary. A man who is obviously and obviously NOT a moneybag, a pious and prudent character whose profile sets him apart from other aspirants and whose aspirations resonate with the youth and mainstream of Nigerians; as well as the international community. We must emphasize with full conviction that the APC will endear themselves to Nigerians, who heartily and boldly call themselves truly “progressive” as the designation they claim, should they choose to do so.

” Likewise, by seizing the arduous opportunity to adopt or vote overwhelmingly/unanimously for Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (GCON), the APC delegates/leadership would intentionally and with all sense of patriotism reduce the burden on the naira and associated inflationary impact on the Nigerian economy from a second torturous pull of the strong dollar against a weak naira at this point. We are afraid to note and conclude that if the APC fails to seize this moment or fails to act on the PDP’s primary election debacle and the reputation it has earned by doing otherwise, Nigerians will continue to like remain in the erroneous classification that all parties differ only between six and half a dozen egates and party leader it is time as history beckons as you are all counted. All present and future hopes of all Nigerians are in your hands to choose PYO for a bigger and prosperous Nigeria for all of us.”

2023: Buhari speaks about APC Presidential Candidate

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has broken his silence on the method of choosing the APC’s presidential nominee during the upcoming primary.

Speaking to APC Governors in Abuja On Tuesday, May 31, the President advised them to focus on the changing dynamics of the country and the expectations of Nigerians when choosing a candidate to be the main focus throughout the process, adding that the flag-bearer must be someone who gives the masses a sense of confidence.
