Doctors from Ondo State, under the auspices of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), have started a two-week warning strike, complaining that their welfare has been neglected by the state government.
They alleged The government had failed to settle its arrears for a few months and, among other things, to solve the problem of the brain drain of doctors and other health workers.
A letter signed and made available to journalists in Akure requested yesterday by the chairman of the NAGGMDP State Dr. Roland Arohunmolase and the secretary Dr. Richard Obe urges all members to go on strike.
The letter also sent to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, entitled “Notice of Disqualification,” read: “With due respect we are writing to inform your office of the immediate withdrawal from service of our members who work in the civil service of the government of the state of Ondo.
“After the club’s general meeting on Wednesday June 9th, 2021 , the members decided to initiate a two-week warning strike on June 10, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. “
He emphasized that the members of the association had been taken for granted for too long and complained that their emotional Intelligence was severely impaired.
The doctors expressed the hope that the governor would do what is necessary to address the complaints contained in their letter.
