Federal High Court Remands Osinachi’s Husband in Prison, Orders Fast Hearing –

FCT, Abuja – A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Wuse has ordered the pre-trial detention of Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi, in Kuje prison.

The Nation newspaper reports that Judge Ngozi Nwosu-Iheme, in a ruling on Friday, June 3, ordered Nwachukwu to remain in detention pending the conclusion of his trial.

The judge issued the ruling after Nwachukwu pleaded not guilty to 23 counts of charges, which borders on domestic vi olence and manslaughter, among other things, charged by the gen al Federal Prosecutor’s Office (AGF) were indicted against him.

It granted an expedited hearing and adjourned it until Thursday, June 16 at 12:00 p.m. for the trial to begin.


How the judge gave the order to send Nwachukwu to Kuje

Punch newspaper quoted judge Nwosu -Iheme as saying:

“Business for today is indictment, expedited hearing is hereby ordered. The defendant should be transferred to Kuje Correctional Facility pending a hearing and decision on this lawsuit.”

Channels Television reports that the federal government claims he has violated Sections 104 and 379 of the Administrative Authority in violation of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, Section 221 of the Penal Code, and the Violence Against Person’s Prohibition Act (VAPP) 2015.
