Finally, UAE Lifts Travel Ban on Nigeria, 11 Other African Countries – Legit.ng

  • The UAE restriction on travelers who have visited Nigeria and eleven other African countries has been lifted.
  • Remember, that the country has placed travel restrictions on flights from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and eight other African countries

The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to lift its entry and transit ban on travelers who recently left Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and visited Ethiopia and eight other African countries.

According to Sahara Reporters, the lifting of the ban was approved by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority ( NCEMA).

The ban was originally imposed with regard to the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

NCEMA said on Twitter:

“From January 29, entry into the UAE for arrivals from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo and South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe are allowed again.”

The original ban affected travelers who had visited certain African countries in the last 14 days.

The changes will come into effect at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday 29 January.

Other countries

Other countries affected by the lifting are:

Tanzania, Republic of the Congo, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Under the new regulations, travelers from Uganda, Ghana, must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test 48 hours before departure and a negative rapid PCR test at departure hafen and Rwanda will also have to do the three tests. Passengers will also be tested on arrival.

List of 70 countries that approve the UAE for visa on arrival

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates visa approved -on arrival for passport holders from at least 70 countries worldwide.

A statement on the airline’s website says that people from the listed countries cannot apply for a visa before traveling to the UAE. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and the continent’s largest economy, is missing from the list.
