FCT , Abuja – Socio-cultural organization The Unity Group (TUG) has given former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan on his recent appointment as a member of the International Advisory Board of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM Council).
TUG said in a statement Tuesday, May 17 that the appointment is further testament to Jonathan’s ever-growing profile as an international statesman and a rare personality with focus.
The group also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the , which she described as presidential and diplomatic protocols extended to Jonathan to enable him to function to the maximum in his international duties.

“We are honored to bring you this congratulatory message on your recent appointment as a board member of the International Advisory Council of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM Council).
“This letter of congratulations is a token of our appreciation to you, on behalf of millions of our members across Nigeria, for standing in the gap for Nigeria and helping positively impact our country’s global perspective as one of the countries with competent human resources needed to make the world a better place.
“In fact, as we recall, you are currently the Chair of the International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP) , ECOWAS Special Envoy to Mali and Chair of the ECOWAS Council for the Wise, Chair of the West Africa Elders Forum and UN Crisis Manager for Africa, among many other international appointments.
“Your various international appointments and global engagements as well Democrat credentials truly validate you as an inspiration to present and future generations; as you have received in the past through awards from many national and international organizations.”
The group therefore prayed that Jonathan would have good health and other fruits of grace, Nigeria and to continue to serve the world as God may guide him.

Jonathan’s appointment to the Board of Directors has been made known he was announced last week, on Wednesday, May 18, through a statement by his media advisor, Ikechukwu Eze.
The appointment marks Dr. Jonathan the first African leader in Sub-Saharan Africa to serve on the ECAM Council Board.
ECAM is a non-profit organization created with the aim of strengthening relationships between the countries of Europe, Africa and the MENA (Middle East and North Africa region), with Italy playing a leading role.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Brigadier General Mohammed Fada as the new director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Fada of Yobe State will take over from Maj. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, who has served two terms in this position.
Outgoing DG Ibrahim is from Nasarawa Governorate, Nasarawa State and is Associate Professor of History and War Studies at the Nigerian Defense Academy.
