A.M. Linus, a sergeant in the Nigerian Army, was killed along with his wife on Saturday while en route to Imo State.

Details of the attack were not clear at the time of writing, but Daily Trust noted that they were attacked because they were military personnel.

The incident is the latest in attacks on security forces in the south-east.

The Outlaw Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN ), its armed wing, have been blamed for the wi devastating attacks in the region.

A phone conversation received by Linda Ikeji Blog further confirmed the sad development.

In the phone call obtained by LIB, a man confessed to killing the couple and two others. According to him, soldiers killed innocent people and he “ate these” in revenge.

Meanwhile, has Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in southern Nigeria confidently states that he has the ultimate solution to curbing insecurity in Nigeria.

The pragmatic Wike made this comment when he interacted with PDP delegates in Taraba state at a consultative meeting.

Wike also spoke out in favor of the need for a state police force from Nigeria, stressing that it would go a long way in solving the problem of insecurity.
