How to Check If Your NIN Has Been Successfully Linked to Your MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile SIM – Legit.ng

The banning of some SIMs from making calls by telecom companies in accordance with federal government guidance has put the importance of the National Identification Number (NIN) back in the spotlight.

After repeated deadline extensions, the federal government ordered telecommunications companies on Monday, April 4th, to block connections that cannot yet be connected to NIN for calls.

Over 70 million subscribers are affected by the development. Many of them are now linking their SIM card to their NIN to regain access to making calls.

However, there are some subscribers who are unsure about their SIM card may or may not have been linked to their NIN but still have access to make calls.

    • To find out if you have linked your NIN to your Glo line, dial *109#.
    • You will be prompted to enter your 11-digit NIN, after which you will receive a “Successful” message.
    • You can also send your NIN via SMS to 109
    • After sending you will receive a message whether the linking was successful or not
    • You can continue the process also try several times if you are not sure if you have previously linked your NIN to your Glo line.

    • To verify that you have linked your NIN to your Airtel line, dial *121*1#.

    • You will be presented with two options: either to check if you have linked your NIN to your 9mobile SIM or if you are in the process of linking it

    • You will shortly receive a message indicating whether or not you have successfully linked your NIN to the SIM

    According to BBC Pidgin, NIMC performs a final check of the NIN before the telcos send a message to their subscribers whether the linking was successful or not.

    FG Orders Nationwide NIN Weekend Registration

    Meanwhile, NIMC has announced the start of weekend NIN registration at all registration centers across the country.< /p>

    According to the Commission, weekend registration will enable those who have not yet received their NIN to do so within the timeframe set by the federal government, before enforcement of the NIN -SIM linking begins.

    Communications and Digital Economy Minister Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami urged citizens and legal residents to take advantage of weekend login use.
