FCT, Abuja – A photo of Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice outside a magistrates’ court in the UK has emerged.

Some social media users in Nigeria shared the photo on their pages.

The couple have been accused of organ harvesting by British authorities, but one released by Ekweremadu’s media team Letter shows Enugu-born politician informing British authorities that he was treating a boy for kidney oil splantation for his daughter.

The letter accompanied the visa application that the senator submitted to the British High Commission in Abuja for the boy.

However, the boy’s minority to the stated age of 21 may have prompted the arrest of the former Deputy Senate President and his wife.

The UK Magistrates’ Court is refusing to release Ekweremadu and his Wife

Recall that the Nigerian lawmaker was arrested and tried alongside his wife for bringing a child to the UK for organ harvesting.

The couple appeared in court on charges of conspiracy to traffic in human beings for organ harvesting.

Court says teenager was homeless with Ekweremadu

A previous report had shown that that the victim is a homeless boy who was taken off the road from Lagos State.

Ekweremadu and his wife must convince the British authorities that the boy was not forced to to give up his kidney.

The case has been adjourned until Thursday July 7th as the couple will have an opportunity to hire an attorney to defend themselves in the case.
