Kwara Ilorin – A man identified simply as Kola set fire to his own home with his wife and children inside the building, reported Daily Trust.
The head of media and public relations at Kwara State Fire Service confirmed the incident: Hassan Adekunle said the incident happened on Sunday 3 July.
Mr. Adekunle announced that Kola, who owns the house, called the fire department emergency team after the incident.

However, he announced that the firefighting team successfully extinguished the fire without affecting other nearby buildings.

“What we learned was that the man can’t remember his name now and his wife a Misunderstanding had another from his house and left his wife and children behind.
“All attempts to settle the matter brought no results and the step to convince him to let his wife and children live there as well , since he had another house also failed.
“According to the report, the man suddenly appeared on Sunday and sprayed the three-bedroom apartment with petrol before setting it on fire with the children inside, that his wife frustrated him.”
Mr. Adekunle revealed that it took quick intervention from roommates and others nearby to help rescue the inmates trapped in the fire.
