Nasarawa, Karu – Suspected captors stormed into the Appmma area on Monday, June 5, 2023 Overseas Karu Local Government Nasarawa State.
Karu Local Government is located a few kilometers from the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
One resident, Ejeh Innocent, who recounted how hijackers stormed their area, said it was like going to war when they minutelan g fired sporadically before leaving with their victims.
Ejeh, a political science entist and activist lamented that the entire buildings in the area were being burned due to the display of their firepower were shaken to its foundations.
When they recounted how they stormed his area, Ejeh said:
“These criminals have our area in the middle of the night stormed. They shot sporadically in the air. Frankly, they came with sophisticated weapons. The whole area vibrated due to the strong sound of gunfire. But I tell you, not a single intervention from security forces until they finished their operation and left.
“In the end they left with no less than 3 of my neighbors. It was a war-like situation. No less than N12 million was paid to get her released. We really need serious security in our area. We also need constant electricity supply. At the very least, we need a police station or outpost deep in our area.”
“And the police must react quickly at such a moment. God forbid we experience such an incident again. The majority of our people are planning to relocate due to the lack of police presence. If this is investigated, it could be a respite.”
Our correspondent found out that a Mr. Uzoma Agomouh, his 8 year old son, his sister and a Mr. Obi ransom was paid for their release.

In a similar development some suspected gunmen abducted Nasarawa State Keffi District Chairman Hon Muhammad Baba Shehu and his driver.
The incident reportedly took place in Gudi district of Akwanga local Government around 18:30 on Friday May 20, when the Chairman was on his way to Lafia.
In Nasarawa, a 42-year-old was arrested for kidnapping a herdsman
Meanwhile, a suspected 42-year-old kidnapper, Ibrahim Hassan, was arrested by police in Nasarawa.
He was accused of kidnapping a herdsman, Abubakar Babiri, in Awe County of the state.
According to the Police had already confessed the suspect, who claimed to have collected N5 million from the crime.
