Former Senator Abubakar Abdulazeez Ibrahim, the younger brother of Hajiya Aisha Jummai Alhassan (Mama Taraba), is dead.

The 64 -year-old man, who died on Tuesday October 5th after a brief illness in his residence in Jalingo, represented the central Senate zone of Taraba between 1999 and 2007.

In addition the late Ibrahim ran twice for governor in the state, reports Daily Trust.

He studied engineering and Business Administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, and d was the owner of Ibramiyya Primary and Secondary School and Peacock College of Education in Jalingo.

Suleiman Dantsoho, her former media advisor, confirmed the death. He said the former minister died in a hospital in Cairo on Friday May 7th.

Alhassan held the gubernatorial elections in Taraba 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) contested but lost to incumbent governor Darius Ishaku, who ran under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

After losing her application, President Muhammadu appointed Buhari her Minister for Women’s Affairs. She left the party after the party failed to acquit her for the 2019 gubernatorial elections.
