Damaturu, Yobe – Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, lost one of his sons in a car accident on Saturday, June 11.
According to a statement by Gubana’s chief press officer, Hussaini Mai Suleh , the seven-year-old boy named after Governor Mai Mala Buni, died in a car crash on Maiduguri Kano Road, reports Leadership.
Suleh noted that the deceased was buried on the same day in accordance with Islamic funeral rites at the Palace of Mai of Fune in Damaturu, Damagun Town of Fune Municipality.
Responding to his loss, Deputy Governor Gubana said:
“I will always remember him as someone close to me.”
Prominent government officials and other notables have visited Gubana’s home to comfort him and his family over the tragedy.
Suleh’s full statement reads:
“The death has occurred of the son of H.E., Deputy Governor y Governor Alh Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) The deceased was a namesake of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba)
“He died in a car accident along Maiduguri Kano road on Saturday morning.” blockquote>
“Aged 7 years old and has since been buried according to Islamic rights in the Palace of Mai Fune in Damagum City, Fune County.

“The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that when a person’s child dies, Allah says so to his angels, you have taken my slave’s child.” blockquote >

Buni finally breaks the silence, denying rumours Fired by APC in leaked letter
Meanwhile, Buni had officially refuted claims that he had been fired from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The letter, dated Monday February 28th, states that all governance matters should be turned over to Bello in his absence.
