Just in: Gunmen Kidnap Prominent Nigerian Cleric, Wife, Driver – Legit.ng

Oyo – The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, Jebba, Kwara State, Rt. Rev. Aderogba, his wife and his driver were abducted by gunmen along the Oyo/Ogbomoso expressway on Sunday 12 June.

Vanguard reports that the cleric and his wife were en route to Yewa, Ogun State, when gunmen forced the vehicle transport to a halt and put them in a wait ndes car ordered.

The horrific incident was confirmed by the state’s police spokesman, PPRO Adewale Osifeso.

Osifeso spoke about the Attack:

“On Sunday, 06/12/2022, around 21:00, One Rev Adekunle Adeluwa reported to the command through an incident report at the Atiba Division Police Headquarters, Oyo City, that around 20:30 PM One Bishop Rt. Rev. Aderogba of Jebba Diocese, Kwara State, was abducted accompanied by his wife and driver.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim’s vehicle was en route from Yewa, State Ogun according to Jebba had an apparent mechanical defect. State of Kwara en route in a remote area along the New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.

“The Deputy Police Commissioner in charge of Command Operations is in charge of the rescue operation that has been ongoing since Sunday 06/12, 06/21 :00 am /2022.

“All tactical teams from Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Ambush Squad, Puff Adder, Police Mobile Force, PMF, Counter Terrorism Unit, CTU and conventional police personnel along with local Hunters and vigilantes are all involved in the rescue efforts.”

Attack on Ondo Catholic Church: Oyedepo Responds, Pronounces Immediate Verdict on Killers

Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church had said the attackers of St. Francis Church, Owo, Ondo State would be punished for their actions.

The renowned minister who during a sermon on Wednesday week, June 8, at Church headquarters in Ota, Ogun State, expressed anger at the level of insecurity ravaging the entire nation.

Oyedepo announced issued an immediate verdict on the killers, saying they would perish with their sponsors.
