On Thursday, May 12, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State was burned alive for alleged blasphemy.
Daily Trust reports that the student who was accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) .w.) was beaten to a pulp.
In a video of the incident seen by the news agency, young men pointed hurled stones at them . Some also used sticks and other objects to hit them, Sahara Reporters also confirmed.
As the victim fell to the ground unconscious, the attackers gathered hoops around them before she was set on fire.
What she did wrong
It was determined that the girl, identified simply as Deborah, made a blasphemous comment to a WhatsApp group, The Guardian added.
One source said:
“The group was created by founded by her peers and served as a platform to discuss academic topics.”
Someone said that a religious comment had been posted on the platform and while criticizing it, Deborah did made a blasphemous comment against the Prophet.

Another person said they had d en comment while arguing with a fellow student in the dorm.
The source said:
“She was questionable about apologizing but refused themselves and this increased the tension in the school. College security had to intervene by taking them to their office, but they were overpowered by students who later set them on fire.”
Governor Tambuwal Responds
Isa Bajini Galadanchi, Information Commissioner, briefed reporters at Government House, Sokoto, and said Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal ordered the school to close and instructed the Ministry of Higher Education and relevant security agencies to investigate the matter.

“The governor has urged the people of the state to remain calm and keep the peace as the government made appropriate decisions based on the findings of the investigation will take action. “
The news agency that visited the school observed heavily armed security forces patrolling the grounds while students moved out with their belongings.

Father of 5-year-old girl killed by her owner speaks in clip
Another sad development concerns the father of the 5-j year-old girl who was murdered by her school owner has expressed sadness at the incident that cut short her daughter’s life.
In a recent video shared by @dailytrust the heartbroken man tearfully told journalists that despite the sad incident, all he can do is thank God.
While declaring that he is leaving God to take revenge, the deceased girl’s father added that it was an incident he would take with him to his grave.
