President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his disappointment with the intelligence system after the terrorists ‘ -Attack on the Medium Security Custodial Center, Kuje.
After the President inspected the scene of the attack on Wednesday, July 6, the President stated that he smart system at Kuje prison, reports Daily Trust.
“I’m disappointed in the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security facility and get away with it.”
According to Presidential Spokesman Garba Shehu:
“ Shortly after he (President Buhari) arrived, he was greeted by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Mohammad Lamido Belgore, and Nigerian Correctional Services Inspector General Haliru Nababa of the attack and showed him the bombed out section and the archive set on fire, adding that the intruders then launched an attack on all Cells were launched in which Boko Haram terrorists were being held.
“The President was informed at the end that none of the 63 terrorists would be captured, but it was stressed that records would not be lost because they were secured.”
Buhari reacts angrily
“How could the prison’s defenses not prevent the attack? How many inmates were in the facility? How many of these can you consider? How many staff did you have? How many of them were armed? Were there guards on the watchtower? What have you done? Is the video surveillance working?”
He said the President was also informed that the security forces had re-arrested 350 of the fugitives while about 450 others were still missing, and that this was happening quickly was on his way to recapture the rest.
Shehu told President Buhari, accompanied by Boss Mustapha, Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff, stated at the end of the visit that he expects “a comprehensive report” on the incident.

Meanwhile, after the daring attack on the Kuje Correctional center in Abuja, the country’s capital, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Tuesday evening, July 5, suspended the whereabouts of Deputy Police Commissioner Abba Kyari.
During the hour-long attack, many inmates are said to have fled. Kuje Prison is famous for holding high-profile inmates and suspects, including former governors and ministers.
