Chinedum Okereke, Managing Director of The La Casera Company (TLCC), was honored with the National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPOM) for three decades of illustrious service to the food and beverage industry beverage industry at a ceremony presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday. The award was placed in the category of employers.
At the event, held in the banquet hall of the Asokoro Abuja State House, President Buhari exhorted all laureates to express their appreciation as a call for more hard work and dedication to human resource development needed to sustain socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria and urge them to make productivity their watchword, saying: “This award should be yours spur them to greater heights.”
The National Productivity Order of Merit Award is an award of honor and dignity instituted by the government to recognize hard work and excellence . The award winners were recognized after a strict evaluation process of the nominated persons and institutions. In his speech, Secretary of Labor and Employment Senator Chris Ngige said that since the award was launched in 1991, 382 individuals and 97 organizations have been honored with the NPOM.
The La Casera Company has appointed Okereke as Managing Director of the company, effective November 2018. Okereke was the former Managing Director at Suntory Foods & Beverages Nigeria and also General Manager at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc.
