Lekki Panel Report: Aide Reveals When Lai Mohammed Will Respond

An advisor to the Minister for Information, Culture and Tourism, Lai Mohammed, said, his headmaster would shortly respond to the recent submission of the Lagos State Judicial Committee’s report on the reparation of victims of SARS-related abuses and other matters.

Segun Adeyemi, the special assistant the media minister said that Mohammed was currently out of the country and should announce the federal government’s position on the report as soon as he returned.

Punch reported that Adeyemi did so in a text message announced when he responded to a request for the minister’s reaction to the panel’s report indicting the military, police and other government agencies.

He said in the text :

“We are on assignment outside the country (Nigeria ). Awaiting our response shortly. “

Although Adeyemi did not announce exactly when the minister would return to Nigeria, the ministry had issued a statement in which the United States government had issued for removing Nigeria from the blacklist of religious freedom.

The minister described the US government’s decision as fair and equitable, reiterating that the country called Nigeria on last year the list was set, did not interfere in any form of violations of religious freedom or policies of religious persecution.

Adeyemi said in the statement that Mohammed remarked that Nigeria had the freedom of religion, as it is enshrined in the constitution of the country, jealously protects and takes seriously any violations in this regard.

Mohammed said:

” We will continue make sure every Nigerian di e has freedom to practice his or her own chosen religion or belief unhindered. “

The minister also praised religious leaders across the country who advocate religious harmony. < / p>

The US said in a statement that it was looking forward to a response from. pleased the government of Lagos state on the new report and the previous recommendations of the panel.

According to the US, the reaction of the government of the state of Lagos to the report is part of a process that an important accountability mechanism for the event that took place during the #ENDSARS protests.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also announced that he had received the report from the Lagos Committee of Inquiry.

Upon receipt of the report, the governor praised the chairman of the panel and the members for their service.

He also said that the state government has set up a four-person committee headed by the Lagos Public Prosecutor to quickly implement the recommendations of the report. General and Justice Commissioner Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) to present a white paper.
