Mr Abdukmalik Ahmed, Consul General of Nigeria in South Africa, said this in a telephone interview with the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) on Saturday.
He observed a red flag on a forgery website for passport applications Created by the Nigerian Mission in New York and promised to be on the alert for such incidents in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ahmed said: Sister Mission in New York. Fortunately, we did not notice any such thing in Johannesburg.
“Even so, the mission remains vigilant to detect such undesirable activity by cybercriminals.”
The Nigerian community in South Africa has 70,000 members under the auspices several countless organizations, including the Nigerian Doctors Forum, the Nigerian Citizens Association and the Association of Nigerian Nurses.
Others are the Nigerian Muslim Jammah, Nze Na Ozo, Niger Delta Association, Nigeria Union of Travel and Immigration Practitioners , Nigerian Lives Matter, Akwa Ibom Indigenes and the Nigerian Women Association.
