Kwara State – A man identified as Dauda Afolabi has been arrested in Kwara State for burning a mixture of sawdust and cement and sold gypsum powder (POP) as herbal medicine.

Daily Trust reported that Afolabi said in a viral video that he used to have many markets in China visits the state to sell his products.

He said:

“I have a certain amount of sawdust, cement and plaster powder that is used in the manufacture used by POP, placed in small white polythene bags formerly used to hold N5 water for sale to the public as herbal medicine for malaria and other ailments.

“I go to several markets in the state and get Patronage. I don’t have a fixed price for it. I’m selling on a bargain basis. I know it’s dangerous but because of the economic situation in the country.”

Resident identifies Dauda as police speak

A resident of Gerewu Municipality, Taibat, said Dauda was a regular visitor to the mandate market in Ilorin before he was caught.

Taibat, public vigilance and proper regulation by authorities demanded, wondering at the collateral damage that may have already been inflicted on the victims who used the mixture.

However, state police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi said, the matter was not reported to the police.

He added that the police would act as soon as they found out.
