Although his term of office is slowly coming to an end, President Muhammadu Buhari recently dismissed some of his appointees and appointed new staff to replace them.
To explain the reason for the change of president, his spokeswoman Femi Adesina said his director wanted to consolidate the “inheritance” in his cabinet to drive in the final lap of his tenure.
Here is a list of recently sacked presidents of the president:
1. Saleh Mamman
Saleh Mamman was the power minister until his dismissal. He was appointed head of the ministry for a second term shortly after President Buhari was re-elected.
His dismissal was announced on Wednesday September 1st.
2. Sabo Nanono
Sabo Nanono served as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development until his dismissal, also announced on Wednesday September 1st .
However, the Presidency said Mamman and Nanono were not fired for underperformance as claimed in some areas.
3. Basheer Mohammed
On Wednesday September 8, President Buhari Basheer dismissed Mohammed as director general of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Human Trafficking (NAPTIP).
The President quickly appointed Fatima Waziri-Azi as the agency’s new General Directorate. No reason was given for the President’s action.
4. Armstrong Idachaba
President Buhari dismissed Armstrong Idachaba as director general of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in June, Vanguard reported.
He has since been replaced by Balarabe Ilelah, an experienced broadcaster.
5. Professor Sani Mashi
In March, President Buhari removed Professor Sani Mashi from the post of Director General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
According to PM News , Mashi, whose term of office should expire in January 2022, has been replaced by Professor Bako Mansur Matazu.
President Buhari makes three new appointments
Meanwhile, a few days after the dismissal of two ministers from his cabinet, President Buhari has approved the appointment of three new managing directors for some agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The new appointments in the Ministry of Education were announced by its spokesman, Bem Goong, in a statement released on Wednesday September 8th . Entered into force on September 1st and would each have an initial term of five years.
