Notorious Bandits’ Leader Retaliates, Sacks Zamfara Villages, Kidnaps 150 over Father’s Arrest

Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State – Bandits loyal to a prominent bandit in Zamfara state known as Turji revealed, the rampage, kidnapping of villagers and travelers in the community of Shinkafi, reports Daily Trust .

The newspaper added that the The bandits’ action on the recent arrest was followed by Turji’s father.

Turji’s father was reportedly arrested by security agents about two weeks ago in Kano and his whereabouts have been unknown since then.

The villages looted on Friday:

  5. Marisuwa
  6. Maberaya, among others

In addition to looting the villages, the bandits have also reportedly kidnapped many travelers along Gusau-Sokoto Street.

Turji vows to deter many from Sallah enjoying with their families

Turji reportedly swore that his father would be prevented from performing the upcoming sallah at home then he would make sure that many other people attend the festival as well do not perform with their families.

The Daily Trust quoted a source as saying that Turji was accusing his father of arresting him. The bandit leader said he was the terrorist and his whereabouts were known, so there was no need to arrest his father.

Another source quoted by the newspaper claimed that Turji had sent a warning to “friendly villages” asking them to evacuate.

A resident of Shinkafi city, Mohammed Sani, claimed that a rocket-propelled grenade had hit the City was fired, parts of the palace of the emir destroyed.

However, the development was not confirmed by the police.

Bandits attacked five villages in the state of Zamfara, kill 40

In another similar development, at least 40 people were killed by bandits in attacks on five communities in Faru district, Maradun local government area, Zamfara state.
