Obasanjo sends important message to Nigerian youth
The former president urged Nigerian youth not to abandon the country to those “who screw it up”.
He urged them to hold their future firmly in the belief that “today is their day”, contrary to the famous cliché – youth are the leaders from tomorrow.
Obasanjo launched a program for youth celebrating his 85th birthday
The “OBJ @85 Free Keke Program” was officially announced during the event launched and the tricycles (keke) will be distributed to beneficiaries drawn from the 36 states as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
The tricycles were donated by the Youth Development Center of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Youth Development Center .
Obasanjo asked Nigerian youth to Taking the lead
Obasanjo said that despite many challenges Nigeria is facing, “opportunities abound” and urged the younger generation to to take advantage of them.
He also urged them to roll up their sleeves and make the necessary contributions to address the nation’s challenges.
According to him, if the youth leave things to those who screw up and tell them they’re tomorrow’s leaders, they’ll never have that tomorrow.
“First of all, we want to prove that there are countless possibilities in this country. Yes, things are not as they should be, but you as young people must choose individually and collectively to make contributions to make things the way they should be.
“If you die Leaving things to those who screw it up for you and say (you) that you are the leaders of tomorrow, tomorrow you will never have that. Today is your day.
“Then the third point, yes, sometimes you might get people who would help you, and sometimes you might not even get who would help you; You must remember that God gave you the innate ability to be what He wants, and when you decide what you want to be, God will help you and He would provide the people who would help you Reaching the sky should be your limit.”
Dr. Bisi Kolapo urged youth to learn from Obasanjo
The center’s chairman, Dr .Bisi Kolapo, implored the youth to emulate Obasanjo’s passion and dedication to building the Nigeria of our dreams.
Kolapo also warned them against corruption and greed, as he said it be difficult to combat when you are a perpetrator.
She cited courage, bravery, openness, seriousness, knowledge, loyalty, passion and responsibility as some of the virtues that are expected of the youth to move the country forward.
Beneficiaries speak< /h2>
Two of the beneficiaries, Bashir Alimodu and Ase, reply mbe Ngumimi from Borno and Benue states applauded the center for the donation, which they said helped the growth and development of their trade.
They also pledged to make wise use of the tricycles, just as they urged other wealthy Nigerians to take notice of the gesture to encourage young entrepreneurs across the country.
