Pastor Timothy Olaniyan, head of politics and administration at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has come under serious criticism for his campaigning for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
In fact, on Monday, May 2, RCCG youth pastor Oche Otorkpa urged the church to urgently release Olaniyans, Vanguard reports.
Otorckpa was saddened to learn that the pastor made such a comment in response to the warning of the church’s general overseer, Genug Adeboye.
“I was saddened when my attention was drawn to the statement attributed to the Head of Policy and Administration of Redeemed Christian Church, RCCG, “Pastor” Timothy Olaniyan. This act reminds me of the tragedy promoted by many of my colleagues at Redeemed Christian Church of God who used the RCCG Altar to promote Buhari as Nigeria’s only Savior because Osinbajo, also a Redeemed Pastor, was his running mate was.
“Against all admonitions from our father, the General Overseer, these pastors chose to ignore an explicit order and promoted Buhari/Osinbajo to the RCCG pulpit in 2015, and the results are what we see today .
“While Pastor Olaniyan has the constitutional right to express a political opinion, he clearly fails to understand the delicate nature of the office he holds and the diversity of interests and people he is tasked with administering .
” We therefore humbly urge the church leadership to remove “Pastor” Timothy Olaniyan as head of the Policy and Administration Department so that the E unity can carry out its mandate without shamefully taking sides and dancing naked in the marketplace.”
